DRAWING CIRCUS: GRIMM'S FAIRY TALES

I attended a brilliant Life drawing event inspired by Grimm's Fairy Tales. Here are some of my more successful drawings from the day! I'll be telling you more about it soon!

GUSTAF TENGGREN

I've recently fallen in love with the work of the Swedish - American Artist and Illustrator Gustaf Tenggren. He enjoyed a long successful career and in 1936 began to work with Disney creating beautiful backgrounds, such as this one for the film Pinnochio. I don't know much more about him than that but I will endeavour to find out and fill you in so we can ogle his stunning work some more!

GLORIOUS HAIR

I've been getting along to life drawing much more regularly in recent times and here is a drawing of one of the beautiful models who has such gloriously long hair it's unreal! (Potentially I made her look a bit sinister here!) Also let this be a little taste for next week when I will be nattering about Drawing Circus: Grimm's Fairytales, a day-long life drawing event themed on the stories of Grimm that I was lucky to attend last Saturday.

PRETTY INKS!

Evidence that I must have been a good girl last year, one of my favorite xmas pressies was this set of Winsor and Newton inks from my dear friend Bridie. They're so pretty, LOOK HOW PRETTY THEY ARE. I think the squirrels might be the best...

ICY EVENING

Here is a little video I made of an icy afternoon and evening in the Czech Republic. The temperature was minus 20 and we were driving back to the mountains after a day at the Ice Speedway in a little Czech village. I love how quickly it changes from milky daylight to deep blue and finally to darkness. The music is a Queens of The Stone Age instrumental track called Lightning Song.

SNOWY MOUNTAIN + VOLCANO

One oil pastel drawing of tiny hut on snowy mountain with volcano erupting in background COMPLETE. Now to get my technical hat on and see how I can bring it to life with basic animation. I'm thinking snow flakes might be needed and an icy soundscape.
