SNOWY MOUNTAIN + VOLCANO

One oil pastel drawing of tiny hut on snowy mountain with volcano erupting in background COMPLETE. Now to get my technical hat on and see how I can bring it to life with basic animation. I'm thinking snow flakes might be needed and an icy soundscape.

JOHN MARTIN - TEST

So, this is a little initial test I created to see how I might be able to create a bit of atmosphere for a 2D piece of art. I've used John Martin's 'The Great Day of his Wrath' as a placeholder for now, but i'm intending to swap in some large oil pastel drawings I've been working on quite soon. I used the program After Effects to drop in some falling ash and create a kind of lightning effect. I'm not sure yet where want to go with this but I reckon with some more experimentation I might be able to make something interesting...HMMM

INCREDIBLE CONCEPT ART BY LOU ROMANO!

I set myself up in bed with a nice hot beverage, my laptop and The Incredibles earlier this week. I hadn't watched it for a while and I'd forgotten what a good yarn it is. How cool is the baddie's lair on the James Bond style island? I found some of the film's concept art on the very talented Lou Romano's blog. I particularly love this early sketch of Edna!

CROCHET BIKINI GIRL

Sometimes I like to run to the library in my lunch break, choose an interesting book and do a little drawing from it. This lady was in a 1960's fashion book. Note the ever practical crochet knit bikini.

A YEAR OF SUN WITH MR. PERSOL

A Year of Sun with Mr. Persol - HD from Yuki 7 on Vimeo.
This is such a fun, sun filled little animation by the Yuki 7 team. Put me down for a year of Sun with the fabulous Mr. Persol please. Lovely transitions between scenes too.

MAKE DO AND MEND

'Make Do and Mend' should be making a bit of a comeback in 2012. Taking old tired clothes and giving them a bit of love and care to transform them into something new, shiny and much more wearable. The above tartan creation recently found it's way out of the attic and into my sewing pile. It was a bit hideous at the time. A floor length, long sleeved, poo-buttoned nightmare. Now I am no genius with a needle, but chopping off a couple of feet of fabric and swapping the buttons for some celtic inspired gold ones, took all of an hour and cost ZERO! I'm not entirely sure how i'm going to wear it yet without looking like a wannabe harajuku girl, but that will come to me with time. The ribbon inspired font I've been playing with needs a bit of work too!
